No, it was just a letter saying that I would be getting a stimulus check. Well, it arrived weeks ago and was already spent. I thought that with direct deposit I would be spared this waste of paper and postage, but no such luck...

I got the same letter today and had the same moment of panic.

I actually had to use copier paper as TP a couple of years ago. Not fun.

No need to worry. If the IRS is going to audit you, they call you and leave a message on your phone.

We just got our stimulus dollars today. Straight into the savings account. The wife and are still employed and working from home and our respective industries are (so far) not in danger of closing. So we feel very fortunate.

A few years ago some credit card company decided to ‘forgive’ some old debt. They got their revenge, though. The money in question was reported to the IRS as income and I had to pay taxes on it to the Feds and to the state...

I wish I could have saved it, but I ended up sending the whole thing, and then some, to my landlord. He hasn’t contacted me about my late rent, but I decided not to wait for him to do so. At least you’re a double-income household that’s still fully employed - I’m single and out of work...

Agreed, it was obvious that since we didn't get a paper check, no signature so they sent this to make sure I knew whom it was from (uh, me? My tax dollars?)

Mine finally deposited today. Apparently takes 6 days for federal funds to clear at my bank.

Funny; I still haven’t gotten the letter much less the stimulus check. I guess they don’t even think I’m worth the paper to send a letter to haha.

Trump’s used to sending out paper when people really need a whole bunch of other stuff:

Still nothing for me, though the IRS’s tool has updated from saying they don’t know whether I’m eligible to saying I’m eligible, but they don’t know my bank info (even though they definitely should). I went ahead and entered my info (thanks IRS for blocking pasting into form fields!), so hopefully I’ll get something, which I can then invest while the market is down (it’s been going up recently, but I suspect there will be new exciting local minima to explore)

And yet there are incredibly stupid people that think the money came out of his own pocket. I’m sure that they’re the same people that think that he’s actually a billionaire, and that a billionaire is automatically someone worth looking up to...

Yeah it should have had one’s own address at the top and the signature from your last tax return on the bottom.

It didn’t have, uh, my signature
So yeah some single-ply, made worse by the fact that relocation last year cost my company so much that I’m not eligible for any of it

ugh yeah that sucks, relo is generally tax deductible though if you have offsetting expenses, might be worth refiling last year’s return
